Nonfiction plans that integrate science have never been easier to write with this Nonfiction Interactive Read Aloud Lesson Plan Unit for 2nd Grade. Go deeper into informational text or nonfiction with a focus on asking and answering questions, main idea, cause and effect, text features, vocabulary, author's purpose, visuals make meaning, supporting details, and compare and contrast. Lesson plans, read-aloud activities, and reading response printables are included.

The teacher reads a book through the week and models how to ask questions and answer text-based questions, how to determine the main idea, how to determine the author's purpose, monitor comprehension, and so much more. Essentially students are working to better understand and utilize what they are reading and hearing. This can be used as a shared reading, an interactive read-aloud, or a close reading activity.

Nonfiction unit focusing on informational text standards is print and digital which makes it perfect for distance learning, hybrid learning, or face-to-face learning. This standards-based unit focuses on the life cycles of plants, animals, and the human body integrated into the Reading Workshop.
