Teaching Digital Citizenship and Internet Safety to elementary kids is one of the most important and timely topics. Teaching digital citizenship to elementary students allows students to better understand their rights and responsibilities on the Internet. Creating a community with citizenship lessons that cover expectations and virtual safety is essential inside of the classroom and inside your online classroom.

This packet discusses media balance and well-being with a focus on digital citizenship and the importance of device-free moments, privacy and security with a focus on keeping personal information private, digital footprints and identity with a focus on digital breadcrumbs, relationships and communication with a focus our virtual community, cyberbullying with a focus on stopping online meanness, and news and media literacy with a focus on giving author's credit for their work.

This packet will take about 7 class periods to review all aspects of digital citizenship in the second-grade classroom.
